SLFP will vote for Dullas – Dayasiri

The SLFP Central Committee which met last evening, taking a U-turn from its previous decision to abstain, has decided to vote for MP Dullas Alahapperuma in today’s vote to elect the President.

He said they still believe Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, and MP Dullas Alahapperuma should reach a consensus after discussions rather than voting in Parliament.

MP Jayasekara said the SLFP has never stated that it will not vote, and that they only hope to reach a final decision after discussions with all Parties.

When queried whether the SLFP agreed with the protesters on all points, the Parliamentarian said the Party agreed on all points and that they will reach a final decision on whether they agree with the protesters’ demand of removing the Acting Head of State after holding a vote during the Party’s Executive Committee Meeting.
