Premadasa withdraws himself from race for Presidency, SJB to support Dullas

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has withdrawn himself from the upcoming vote for Presidency.

Taking to Twitter, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader noted that he took the following decision for the “greater good of the country and its people”.

Thus, the SJB and all other Opposition partners have now pledged their support for Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Dullas Alahapperuma.

The submission of nominations for a new President will be held in Parliament today (19), while a new President is to be elected tomorrow (20).

Accordingly, Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe from the United National Party (UNP), SLPP MP Dullas Alahapperuma and Anura Kumara Dissanayake from the National People’s Power (NPP) are to submit nominations for the post of President.
