Bus fares reduced by 2.32%

Bus fares are to be reduced by 2.32%, with effect from midnight today (19), Dr. Nilan Miranda, Director of the National Transport Commission said.

Accordingly, the minimum fare, which was previously Rs.40, will now be Rs.38.

The decision was taken in light of the recent reduction in fuel prices Dr. Miranda explained, adding that the reduction in fares will be imposed on both private and Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses, and is applicable to all normal services, semi-luxury services, luxury services and ultra-luxury services.

Dr. Miranda therefore requested all passengers to file a complaint in the event the reduction in bus fares is not granted via the NTC’s 24-hour hotline – 1955.

He added that several mobile inspectors too will be deployed, so as to monitor the collection of bus fares.
