Galle District Secretary Shantha Weerasinghe said arrangements have been made to provide urea fertiliser to all farmers in the Galle District who cultivated paddy this year. According to Weerasinghe, farmers in the Galle District are cultivating with rain water, which is why the season has been delayed this year. The District Secretary also said urea fertiliser will be distributed through agrarian service centres in the Galle District. This year, approximately 26,000 acres have been cultivated in the Galle District during the Yala season, requiring approximately 520 metric tons of urea. The Lanka Fertiliser Company distributes fertiliser to agrarian service centres in the Galle District.
