Child rescued from crocodile’s jaws

A group of people saved a child from being eaten by a large crocodile in Kataragama. The child went to the Kataragama Detagamuwa Wewa with his stepmother on 16 July, around 4:00 p.m.

The crocodile approached the boy, grabbed his hand, and dragged him towards the lake. People nearby attacked the crocodile and saved the child.

W.M. Pasidu Madusanka, a 13-year-old Pirivena student from Kataragama Rajamawata, sustained serious injuries on his elbow and was rushed to the Kataragama District Hospital.  As ambulances were low on fuel, he was transported by private vehicle to Tissamaharama Hospital, and then to Hambantota General Hospital.
