Nurses not coming to work due to fuel crisis – GNOA

Chairman of the Government Nursing Officers Association (GNOA) Saman Rathnapriya says that the number of nurses reporting to duty  has reduced by 25 per cent due to scarcity of fuel.

He stated that as the Government has failed to put in a mechanism to supply continuous fuel to hospital staffers, those reporting for work could decline by as much as 50 per cent by 18 June.

He charged that though the Government and the Health Ministry has been imploring staffers to report for duty it has been difficult for them to comply for want of fuel for their vehicles.
