Def Secy, Army Chief visit injured soldiers


Attaching greater significance and appreciation for the commitment displayed by Army personnel, in the performance of their challenging duty roles, in the past couple of weeks, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Defence Ministry Secretary, together with Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army, took time off and called at the Colombo Army Hospital on Friday morning (15) to inquire into the well-being of Army personnel injured in the protest near Parliament.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage along with Brigadier Crishantha Fernando, Director General Health Services and Brigadier Jude Perera, Director Maintenance and Management at the Colombo Army Hospital received the visiting Secretary Defence at the entrance to the Colombo Army Hospital complex.

 Both Defence Ministry Secretary and the Army Commander later visited the Wards where a more than two dozens injured soldiers are still under medical treatment.
