SJB to back NCM against Acting President

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has decided to support a No-Confidence Motion (NCM) proposed by the SLFP against Acting President and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

In response to a question at a media briefing yesterday (14), SJB MP Hector Appuhamy noted an NCM against Wickremesinghe is the need of the hour.

“A NCM against Wickremesinghe will reveal whether he has a majority in Parliament. The Speaker should get his act together and consider that President had vacated his post. The Speaker should go ahead and get the House to elect a new President,” he said.

When inquired about the criticism made by protesters on the Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, he said only a few in the protesting group holds that ideology.

“The leaders of this country have ruined it by lying. Even as the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe is telling a complete lie. Therefore, the people stand against the destruction of the country and the corrupted leaders leave the country. Our purpose is not only bringing Premadasa to power and making him President, we are coming to implement that programme with Premadasa to rebuild the country,” he added.
