Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka (SL) in a statement on Tuesday (12) said they thanked their Sri Lankan friends for their sympathy in the demise of Japan’s former Premier Shinzo Abe. “We renew our determination to continue to build our great friendship in the years to come,” the statement further said.
“Despite the current difficulties, many true friends of Japan, including Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe, former President Maithripala Sirisena, former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, former Foreign Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris, , along with many other ministers and MPs, as well as students and citizens, while expressing their affection for Japan, visited and signed the Book of Condolence,” the Embassy added.
“By receiving heartfelt consolation, we were deeply moved by the warmth and support of the people of Sri Lanka and this event made us recall the strong bond of friendship that exists between Japan and Sri Lanka. We hope to continue to strengthen our friendship that will stand the test of time, through thick and thin,” the statement concluded.
