All train services to Colombo suspended


Sri Lanka Railways has decided to suspend trains services from outstation areas to Colombo until further notice.

General Manager of Railways Dhammika Jayasundara said the Prime Minister’s Office issued directives in this regard following the decision to impose a curfew in the Western Province. However, trains that commenced despite the public outcry resumed services.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe issued the directive to impose a curfew in the Western Province. First, despite a curfew in the Western Province, Sri Lanka Railways decided that trains would run until commuters returned home.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Railways has established a new hotline (1971) for the general public to receive train service information and lodge complaints in the event of an emergency.
