The sitting of Committee of Public Enterprises (COPE), scheduled to be held today (12), with the officials of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal Limited and the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), has been postponed owing to the current political situation.
The sitting was scheduled to be held at 10.00 a.m. today (12). Due to the personal statement made by the PUCSL Chairman, during the last COPE meeting, a controversy arose in the country regarding the price of petroleum.
An investigation into this was to be conducted based on the statement of the PUCSL Chairman and the Auditor General’s report on the CPC and the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal Limited.
COPE Chairman Dr. Charitha Herath said, the committee sittings will resume once the prevailing situation is settled.
