Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara said full payments were made to IOC on 8 July with the assistance of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Finance for a diesel shipment to arrive between 15 and 17 July.
Payment is also being made for a petrol shipment scheduled to arrive between 22 and 24 July.
Wijesekara said, on his official Twitter account that advance payments were made last week for a diesel shipment to arrive between 15 and 17 July and a petrol shipment to arrive between 17 and 19 July. The balance payment for the diesel was due yesterday.
The remaining balance of payment for the petrol due to arrive between 17 and 19 July must be paid today (12). Three shipments are expected to arrive in Colombo between 12 and 15 July, including a diesel shipment, a Heavy Fuel Oil shipment, and a Crude Oil shipment, for which funds must be paid upon arrival in Colombo.
He also said that cargo scheduled to arrive on 9 July was delayed due to weather conditions and could not be loaded on time and that the supplier informed him of the departure from India yesterday morning. The shipment’s new delivery date has been set between 12 and 15 July. All dates are given by the suppliers and weather permitting.
