Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has hinted at the establishment of a coalition government upon President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s resignation.
Speaking to BBC, Abeywardena had stated that a new cross-party coalition government must be formed within a week of the president officially stepping down.
He also also mostly blamed COVID-19 for the country’s economic woes, stating that “The COVID pandemic has created havoc in the country economically so we had to spend all our money on vaccinations”.
Bloody liar. He should be the next guy chased out. Still defending Rajapakse’s
Looks like the Speaker is also another who is in denial of the reality of the current situation. The government must have paid a rather exorbitant fancy price for vaccines if he thinks that that is the cause of the diminished foreign reserves.
