Ranil still trying to hang on to power – JJB

The Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) claimed that Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe is still trying to be in control using several ways, despite saying he is willing to resign.

While claiming that dismissing the President, Premier and their Government alone will not fulfil the aspirations of the people, Dissanayake said that people’s aspiration would be fulfilled by bringing the country to the development economic strategy and integrating political culture with the people.

Addressing the media on 9 July at the JVP headquarters, he said the JJB would not give up the fight until aspirations of the people are attained.

He also called for justice for the journalists who were assaulted on 9 July and that the incident was a violation of people’s right to information.

“The Government’s inability to serve the nation has been proven again, so Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Ranil Wickremesinghe have chosen the path of repressive action to cover up their failures,” he said.

He also said the JJB demanded the resignations of the President and Premier at the all-party meeting held on 9 July.
