PUSCSL probing signs of sabotage

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) is conducting a special investigation into the power outage near Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence in Colombo, which was set on fire.

According to PUCSL Chairman, Janaka Ratnayake, a power outage was reported on Saturday night at Fifth Lane, Colombo.

He said the PUCSL and the Ceylon Electricity Board will conduct an on-site inspection for the time being to determine whether this was an act of sabotage.

He also claimed that no power outages were scheduled after 6 p.m. on 9 July across the island and that the PUCSL will conduct an investigation into the blackout.

“Due to yesterday’s situation, we chose not to cut power after 6 p.m. However, we found that the incident happened during a power outage in the neighbourhood,” he said.
