Business tycoon Dhammika Perera resigns as Minister


Business tycoon Dhammika Perera has resigned from his portfolio as the Minister of Investment Promotion.

Becoming the fifth Minister to resign from his post over the last 24 hours, in a letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa Perera noted that he made his decision for the betterment of the country.

Explaining that he had accepted the portfolio upon consideration of the ongoing economic crisis and the ‘great love’ he has towards Sri Lanka, Perera noted that he is currently of the view that they should expedite the implementation of a solution to achieve economic stability.

MP Dhammika Perera was sworn-in as the Minister of Investment Promotion before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on 24 June, while he was sworn in as a National List MP of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) before Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena on 22 June.
