Paddy harvesting threatened – NAU

The National Agrarian Unity (NAU) said if the officials of the Agriculture Ministry fail to provide around 2.5 million litres of diesel to enable the harvest of 250,000 acres of paddy in the Eastern Province within a fortnight, there is a serious threat of the harvest being affected.

The farmers alleged that harvesting has already begun in Batticaloa, Trincomalee, and Ampara Districts.

NAU Chairman Anurada Tennakoon said to harvest one acre, they will need at least 10 litres of diesel.
