A 46-year-old individual was arrested last afternoon (07) in connection with the shooting that took place in Katubedda, Moratuwa on 29 June.
The individual, identified as a resident of Katukurunda, was arrested for transporting the shooter in a three-wheeler, and later harbouring the said three-wheeler.
He was arrested by the Mount Lavinia Crimes Investigation Unit and was later handed over to the Moratuwa Police, and is due to be produced before the Moratuwa Magistrate’s Court today (08).
Two person, identified as Ranasinghe Sudesh Madusanka, a resident of Panadura, and Chamath Nirodha, a resident of Alubomulla, were gunned down on 29 June at the Katubedda junction while travelling in a van.
The shooter, along with another individual, had arrived on a motorcycle and had opened fire at the victims.
Preliminary investigations later revealed that accomplices of drug kingpin “Kudu Salindu”, whocurrently operating his syndicate from a foreign country, were likely to be involved in the shooting.
