Galle fuel station murder: Police identify suspects


Police have identified the suspects involved in the killing of a 25-year-old individual at a fuel shed in Maggala, Galle last evening (07).

The suspects were identified as area residents, Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa confirmed, adding that all measures required for their arrest are being taken by the Galle Harbour Police.

Meanwhile, a car, a three-wheeler and a motorcycle were taken into custody by Police, in relation to the incident.

The deceased is believed to have been visiting a friend, who was in the queue for fuel, along with his (the deceased’s) brother and sister-in-law.

The clash had taken place upon the group’s return from dinner, when they found out that another car had parked ahead of theirs in the queue.

Upon questioning the driver of the vehicle parked ahead, he had attacked the group with a sharp object, injuring the deceased, his brother and two others.

The deceased and the injured were rushed to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital following the incident, however, he was later pronounced dead at 12.56 a.m. this morning.

Three others are currently receiving treatment at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

Further investigations are being carried out by the Galle Harbour Police, Thalduwa further assured.
