The TNA has urged the Government to intervene urgently to curb illegal migration by Northern Tamils to India.
They have also urged the PM to implement a programme for people in the North, whereby they could head to India via legal channels, rather than venture out through illegal channels.
The TNA has made this request to the PM and the Government in the wake of eight people from Valvettithurai in Jaffna going to India on-board a ferry recently, including a two-year-old child.
This group had been detained by the Danushkodi Coast Guard, who handed them over to the Danushkodi Police.
