The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has introduced three new methods of issuing electricity bills instead of providing pre-printed bills.
The decision was reached in view of the prevailing paper shortage in the country.
The CEB believes the adoption of these new methods will save more than Rs.1 billion annually considering the growing cost in printing bills.
Accordingly, any consumers who require physical bills will be issued printed bills using thermal paper during the monthly meter reading.
Measures have also been taken to issue the monthly electricity bill through a text message to the phone number registered with the CEB.
Additionally, consumers can also obtain the bill through the mobile application CEBCare.
