Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda met representatives of the Fisheries Cooperative Society to discuss the development of the Oluvil Fishery Harbour, which was transferred to the Fisheries Ministry.
Devananda held discussions with representatives of the Ampara District Deep Sea Multi-day Fishing Trawlers Owners’ Cooperative Society yesterday (6).
The Society’s Spokesman, Al Haj M.S.A. Ahamed presented the Minister with a project report detailing the upkeep of two fuel sheds at the harbour as well as the removal of sand washed into the harbour.
Devananda instructed Ministry Secretary Indu Ratnayake and Ceylon Fisheries Corporation Chairman Thilanka Jayawardena to provide facilities to fishermen who use this harbour in consultation with the society.
