CSC to hand over letter to UN

The Civil Society Collective (CSC) is set to hand over a letter to the UN Office in Colombo today (7), urging the latter to send a foreign delegation to probe alleged human rights violations.

The CSC said during the past six months, several human rights violations have been reported islandwide.

They added that there has been a glaring lack of urgency in regard to enforcing the law to arrest those behind these alleged human rights violations.

Head of the Consumer Rights Protection Organisation Ranjith Vithanage added that they will be joined by several civil society groups and trade unions when they go to the UN Office situated at Bauddhaloka Mawatha to hand over the letter this morning.
