Turkish Airbus damaged at BIA

A Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-300 was damaged while parked on the tarmac at the BIA yesterday morning (5).

The aircraft had flown in from Istanbul, Turkey and was set to return with 54 metric tonnes of apparel items from Sri Lanka.

As the aircraft was being prepared for departure by ground crew, several containers positioned close to it had collided with the number two engine due to strong winds in Katunayake.

The aircraft has been grounded pending repairs.
