GR requests Putin for LoC & recommencement of Aeroflot operations

In a teleconference with Russian President Vladimir Putin this afternoon (06), President Gotabaya Rajapaksa made several requests in order to aid Sri Lanka’s overcoming the current economic crisis.

While thanking his Russian counterpart for the support extended thus far to overcome the challenges of the past, Rajapaksa requested an offer of credit support to import fuel to Sri Lanka, in light of the severe fuel crisis.

Rajapaksa had further requested that operations of the Russian carrier Aeroflot be restarted in Sri Lanka.

“We unanimously agreed that strengthening bilateral relations in sectors such as tourism, trade & culture was paramount in reinforcing the friendship our two nations share”, Rajapaksa said.
