Gas problem solved thanks to WB – Range Bandara

UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara yesterday (4) claimed that the World Bank is acting as a guarantor for Sri Lanka, in a tri-party agreement, to obtain gas and this will enable the uninterrupted supply of gas to the public beginning tomorrow (6).

Addressing the Media at Sirikotha, Range Bandara said 100,000 MT of gas will arrive in Sri Lanka and with the receipt of consignment a sustainable solution can be found to the prevailing gas issue.

“Litro is preparing to distribute 100,000 gas cylinders per day beginning from day-after tomorrow,” Range Bandara said.

He said that solution has been found to the medicine issue to a significant level with the support from World Health Organisation and other donor countries.

He said the next major issue to be resolved was addressing the shortage of fertiliser. The first fertiliser shipment was to arrive tomorrow (6). But the arrival of ship is delayed as a result of stormy seas. However, it will arrive within a couple of days.

The other main issue to be resolved is fuel issue. Steps have been taken to resolve this issue very soon. As the Rajapaksa family devastated the economy of this country within three years. But, Wickremesinghe will not fail like that. At a time when the Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Maithripala Sirisena refused to take the responsibility, Wickremesinghe took over the responsibility, he added.
