Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will make a statement on the discussions held with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Parliament today (5), Minister of Mass Media Bandula Gunawardena said.
He made this remark in response to a question raised by Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella.
Kiriella said international media reported Sri Lanka’s discussions with the IMF were not successful. Everyone in the country is waiting to know an update about the progress of the IMF discussions. So the Government must reveal to the public about what is going on, Kiriella said. Gunawardena said that several rounds of discussions were held between Sri Lanka authorities and the IMF with regard to debt restructuring. The Prime Minister will make a statement on the IMF discussions today (6) in Parliament, he added.
