Five suspects apprehended in Moneragala transporting Gajamuthu


Acting on a tip off from the Navy’s Intelligence unit, Moneragala Police checked a lorry parked near the Moneragala Hospital on the Pottuvil Road in Moneragala and found a stash of Gajamuthu.

 Five suspects, aged 54, 57, 44, 43, and 31 years old, from Ampara, Bibile, Matale, and Diyatalawa Districts, were apprehended with the goods which were being transported from the Badulla region to a businessman in Moneragala.

One of the suspects was a Police sergeant serving at the Galle Service Training School and lived on the Ampara- Buddhangala Road, while another was a retired soldier living in the Bibile area. Meanwhile, it was found that the driver and another passenger were both Matale residents. The other suspect was from Diyatalawa. The suspects were apprehended while the lorry and the Gajamuthu were seized and will be produced in Court.
