The Colombo Stock Exchange recovered on Friday (01) starting the new month on a positive note as the benchmark index gained on a lower turnover with despite foreign exits from the Colombo Bourse.
The benchmark All Share Price Index, which started the day at 7,342.33 points on Friday (01), gained 1.57 per cent (115.15 points) to close the day at 7,457.48 points.
The S&P SL20, representing the top 20 companies traded on Colombo Bourse, which started at 2,334.36 points, gained 1.97 per cent (45.90 points) to close at 2,380.26 points.
The Colombo Stock Exchange saw a daily turnover of Rs 1.4 billion on Friday (01), higher than Rs 785 million recorded the previous day.
The Colombo Bourse witnessed a foreign outflow worth Rs 7 million on Friday (01) as foreigners sold shares worth Rs 15 million, as against purchases of Rs 8 million.
More than 35.5 million shares changed hands on Friday (01) during 12,452 trades that took place.
Shares of more than 226 companies were traded during the day, of which 112 emerged as winners ahead of 46 losers.
