UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said yesterday (3) that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has done everything possible to resolve the country’s economic crisis.
Bandara added that Premier Wickremesinghe has taken the necessary steps to end the queue culture and to ensure that essential commodities, medicine, gas, and fuel are available without interruption within less than six weeks of taking office.
He said during a time when the country was facing a severe fuel, gas, and food crisis, Wickremesinghe took on a huge responsibility that the Opposition Leader and other party leaders refused to accept.
“No one stepped forward to accept responsibility because they were aware of the gravity of the situation. Wickremesinghe, on the other hand, took the challenge head-on,” he added.
According to Bandara, the Premier has once again demonstrated his natural abilities.
“Premier Wickremesinghe has taken the necessary steps to resolve the country’s present US dollar issue within a month.”
“Countries like Japan and the United States, which were disappointed with the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime, have begun to look at us positively,” Bandara said.
“Anura Kumara Dissanayake wants the country to be entrusted to him to rebuild the collapsed economy. Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said the same thing. However, they expect Wickremesinghe to rebuild the country overnight,” Bandara added.
