Only an All-Party Government can find solutions to problems such as people’s hunger, lack of essential goods and services, and problems in education, former President and Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Chairman Maithripala Sirisena said yesterday (3).
Speaking to the Media, he said the Government is incapable of resolving the present crisis.
He further said, the proposed 21st Amendment Bill will strengthen the Executive Presidency by increasing its powers and will keep the President in office until the end of his tenure. He said if this happens, they will start a protest campaign against the proposed 21A.
Meanwhile, SLFP Secretary-General Dayasiri Jayasekara said discussions are underway with district organisers regarding forming an All-Party Government and the weaknesses of the 21A. He also said a protest campaign will be launched if there are provisions to strengthen the Executive Presidency.
He added that they will initiate legal action if there are issues in the 21st Amendment.
