Japanese firm receives fuel after request

A request made to fuel storage owners by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva to release fuel stocks to a Japanese firm engaged in the construction of the second terminal of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) has borne fruit.

Previously, the Japanese firm had informed the Minister that construction work had stalled due to the lack of fuel. Afterwards the Minister had urged fuel storage owners to release enough stocks for the Japanese firm to expedite construction work and this has been met with a positive response. The Japanese firm had requested a daily quota of 13,000 litres of fuel from the subject Minister.
