Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Dinesh Gunawardena instructed State institutions to formulate a mechanism to fast-track services provided to the public.
Gunawardena said certain services provided by State institutions inconvenience the public due to delays, for instance in the service to provide death certificates, as it involves a lengthy process.
He said certain services could be conveniently provided within a day, adding that the mechanism to fast-track public services should include digitising the documentation process.
He thereby instructed officials to promptly identify services that could be provided without delay and to formulate a mechanism to provide these services without inconveniencing the public.
Gunawardena made these statements during a discussion held at the Ministry with the Ministry Secretary, the Additional Secretary, and department heads.
