National Organiser of All Ceylon Farmers’ Federation and JVP Politburo member Namal Karunaratne challenged President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Premier Ranil Wikremesinghe and the Cabinet to hold a ‘Gama Samaga Pilisadara’ programme now.
He was speaking at a protest organized by the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) on 27 June in Kurunegala.
“We cordially invite the President to a ‘Gama Samaga Pilisadara’ now. We will plan the discussion. I challenge you to bring your Cabinet with you. If you cannot accept the people’s challenges, leave immediately or we will chase you away”.
Karunaratne said they are sending a message to theGovernment to let the people prosper without further oppression. He saidif not, the chase will continue. Once again, the price of fuelhas increased, there is not even a hint about another return of a fuel ship, he stressed.
“In a few days, the country will completely shut down. Schools are closed. Sometimes when there is a strike there is some inaction. However, at present about 75 percent the public and private institutions are inactive. They are losing jobs. Everyone is extremely helpless. The people of the whole country are utterly vulnerable,” he said.
