Police seized 15 barrels containing nearly 3,000 litres of diesel, hidden in Veppankulam, Vavuniya and arrested a suspect yesterday (28).
Following a tip-off received by the Army Intelligence Unit, Nelukkulam Police jointly with the Vavuniya Police Special Division and Army Intelligence Unit conducted a search operation.
They found the stock of diesel at a hardware shop. Nelukkulam Police are conducting further investigations.
Meanwhile, Police arrested a 40-year-old suspect in Passara for allegedly selling diesel at an inflated price.
Following a tip-off, Passara Police raided a garage and seized 60 litres of diesel.
