Charge greenbacks from companies that earn in USD

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) called on the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to accept the monthly electricity bills in dollars from companies that earn their income in dollars.

Thereby the PUCSL is to introduce a condition whereby both private and State export oriented industries, the tourism industry and other entities that earn over 60 per cent of their income in USD to pay their monthly electricity bills in dollars.

PUCSL Chairman, Janaka Ratnayake observed that such measure would assist in overcoming the difficulties faced by the CEB obtaining dollars that has persisted due to the forex crisis.
