The All Island Canteen Owners’ Association (AICOA) has decided to increase the prices of all foods, including a packet of vegetable rice, by 10 per cent.
The Association’s Chairman, Asela Sampath, said the decision was taken considering the increase in the price of fuel and transport costs.
As such, the price of vegetable, fish and chicken, rice packets and fried rice and even kottu will be increased by 10 per cent.
However, there will be no increase in the prices of plain-tea, milk tea and hoppers, he added.
Meanwhile, All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association Chairman N.K. Jayawardana said, they will not increase the prices of bakery items following the fuel price hike.
