MoD approves KKS-Pondichery ferry service


Sri Lanka Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved a ferry service between Kankesanthurai (KKS) and Pondichery in Tamil Nadu, Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda said on Friday (24).

He said, once this is launched, Indian goods can reach the Northern Province using the ferry service.

The ferry service would be between KKS and Karaikal Port in Pondichery or Puducheri as it is also called. Minister Devananda, emphasised that the ferry service will be able to import required fuel, kerosene, diesel and other essential commodities including fertilisers, palm oil and pharmaceuticals at reasonable prices.

Meanwhile, arrangements are being made to start flights between Palali International Airport and Trichy and Chennai from 1 July, as planned.
