CPC official warns of emerging fuel mafia

As a result of the prevailing fuel crisis and the unprecedented demand for fuel in the country, a coordinated fuel mafia has emerged, a top level official at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) alleged.

Before the emergence of the ongoing fuel crisis the daily requirement of petrol had been 3,500MT, the daily diesel requirement had been 6,500 MT, the daily kerosene requirement had been 700 MT and the daily requirement of furnace oil had been 400MT.

But, the official noted that due to the increased demand for these fuel varieties a fuel mafia has taken root here.
