Australia ‘A’ chased down a record breaking 367 on the back of centuries by Henry Hunt and Jimmy Peirson, as they beat Sri Lanka ‘A’ by five wickets in the second four day encounter concluded at Hambanthota on Friday.
Continuing from their overnight score of 37 for 1, Australia lost three more wickets in the morning session leaving them 69 for 4 wickets, and Sri Lanka A smelt victory. But then Hunt (107 off 212) and Jimmy Peirson (128* off 189) added 151 runs for the fourth wicket to stabilize the inning. Lakshitha Rasanjana claimed his third wicket when he broke the stand by removing Hunt. Peirson was then joined by Aaron Hardie who made 78 off 94 in an unbroken 150 stand to chase down the target and ensure victory.
