JOES SCRUM DOWN WITH KINGSWOOD IN OPENER

 The Dialog Schools Rugby League 2022 will kick off on 23 June with the tournament’s opening encounter between St Joseph’s College and Kingswood College at Havelock Park. The tournament returns after a lapse of 2-years due to the Covid pandemic.

Kick-off is at 4.15 p.m.

Joes will be led by Teran Karunanayake and Kingswood by Gihan Ranaweera. Joes look a yard faster with their outstanding outfit, while the Randles Hills school is full of freshers in their starting line-up.

Speaking to CT, Kingswood Head Coach Buddhika Thalagampola said: “This year we have a young outfit with lots of talent. We have done our level best on preparation. Boys are ready and eager to go out and perform well. We want to take it game by game and I want all Kingswood rugby lovers to support the team”.

Meanwhile, Joes Head Coach Nilfer Ibrahim said: “We have a young outfit and prepared well for the season during the last 2-months. I hope the boys will perform to their best ability and deliver in the end. I want to take Joes to the top this season.”

Royal College, who emerged champions during the last three seasons, will be one of the top contenders this season along with St. Peter’s, Isipathana, Wesley, S. Thomas’ and Trinity.
