Due to fuel crisis : Parliament Sittings limited to two days

Owing to the worsening fuel crisis, the Parliament Sittings this week have been limited to two days. Accordingly, Parliament will convene only today (22) for this week, Committee on Parliamentary Business decided yesterday (21).

This decision was taken despite the decision previously taken by the committee to convene the Parliament from 21 to 24 June.

Meanwhile, due to the Opposition’s announcement that it will boycott this week’s Sittings, the Independent MPs decided to move the adjournment motion pertaining to the prevailing health issues of the country, which was scheduled to be moved by the Opposition for the purpose of taking up for debate today (22).

Following the adjournment of Parliament tomorrow, it is scheduled to re-convene on 4 July. The Secretary-General also said the time has been set aside from 10.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. for 50 Questions for Oral Answers which could not be taken up in Parliament due to various reasons.
