Anuruddha Bandara released from case

Colombo Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera, yesterday (21) ordered suspect Anuruddha Bandara, who had been released on bail after being arrested and produced in Court on charges of publishing harmful content via social media platforms, to be acquitted of the charges filed against him and be released from the trial.

The Additional Magistrate gave this order, having perused submissions made to him at the previous hearing by Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) President SaliyaPeiris PC.

The BASL President appearing for the suspect, had stated that as the prosecution has failed to maintain the charges filed against his client, an order should be issued to acquit him from the charges filed against him and release him from the trial.
