The 143rd ‘Battle of the Blues’ cricket encounter – the oldest cricket series in Sri Lanka – between Royal College Colombo and S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia will be played from 21 to 23 July at the SSC ground Colombo.
The school authorities have decided that the encounter will be played with the presence of only a segment of the senior boys and will not be open to the public.
The match will be broadcast live with principal sponsor Dialog Axiata via PAPARE channel on Dialog TV in the interest of the old boys, tent holders and general cricket viewing public.
The Royal-Thomian is the second oldest uninterrupted cricket series in the world that commenced two years after the first match between two schools in Australia, St. Peter’s College, Adelaide and Prince Alfred College in Adelaide.
Both Royal and S. Thomas’ have won 35 matches each in the series so far.
