Private bus operations back to normal tomorrow

The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) said private buses will operate as usual from tomorrow (22), if the Government provides them fuel from Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) depots, today (21).

LPBOA Chairman Gemunu Wijeratne said 50 per cent of private buses operated yesterday (20).

“About 50 per cent of private buses operated as scheduled, as they managed to obtain fuel, and we will be able to return to normalcy if the depots issue fuel, today (21),” he added.

Meanwhile, SLTB Deputy General Manager, Panduka Swarnahansa said they have taken steps to operate buses on all routes, although schools are closed this week.

“Although schools are closed, several buses that were assigned for school transportation are available to meet the requirement. The remaining buses were assigned for public transportation,” he said.
