Former Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) M.M.C Ferdinando has been summoned before the Committee of Public Enterprise (COPE).
Accordingly, Ferdinando is scheduled to appear before COPE on Thursday (23) at 11:00 am.
COPE Chairman Prof. Charitha Herath explained that Ferdinando was being summoned to discuss and redetermine the contents of the letter sent by him to Herath on 11 June.
“Today we considered the letter sent to COPE by the Chairman of the CEB on 06.11.2022. An important discussion took place in accordance to that letter. Accordingly, the decision of COPE is that the former Chairman M.M.C. Ferdinando will be summoned before the Committee again to hold discussions with him and thereby redetermine the contents of this letter and then take the decision regarding expunging the respective contents of his testimony as requested”, he said in this regard.
Moreover, it was decided that officials appearing before COPE in the future will be required to take oath at the beginning of the meeting that their statements are accurate and true.
