Police told to use minimal force

Police have been instructed by the Public Security Ministry to use minimal force against those who act violently around gas stations or during rallies.

During a meeting between Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles and Senior Police Personnel, the former has instructed the Police to maintain law and order in the event of such violent actions by the public.

Obtaining the support of the Army to assist the Police, in quelling disturbances at filling stations, was also considered during the discussion.

Meanwhile, because of the public anguish over the economic crisis, Police personnel have been told to deal calmly with them. The Police media spokesman also stated the public should not argue with the Police officers stationed at the petrol stations, since they are there to ensure public safety.
