Licences of three bowsers suspended

A complaint is to be lodged to investigate the culprits behind the three separate incidents where bowsers illegally unloaded fuel to consumers.

Permits of these bowsers have been suspended, pending the completion of investigations into these incidents reported on social media.

Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera said two of them were bowsers belonging to Lanka IOC and the third belonged to CPC.

Several videos, circulated on social media, exposed the bowsers dispensing fuel midway or on the road. This is despite a ban on the sale of fuel in cans, containersand bottles.

Wijesekara thanked those who brought these illegal activities to the attention of the authorities.

“We gathered information about the licence plates and the people who encouraged these activities. We will undoubtedly take action against these individuals,” he said.
