Hora Uncle – a children’s movie that has stepped beyond the traditional and conventional norms of Sri Lankan cinema – will be released on 25 June in Milan, Italy.
The movie which marks the cinematic debut for the young and talented director Harshana Wickramasinghe will be screened at Centro Sportivo Culturale Asteria and then will tour Italy with multiple screenings in several Italian cities as is the plan.
Although a children’s movie by definition, Hora Uncle is a movie which can be enjoyed by not just children but adults as well, mainly because it boasts a stellar cast consisting veteran actors who have already won the hearts of adults. The movie features Mahendra Perera, Dulani Anuradha, Kumara Thirimadura, Janaka Kumbukage, Umayangana Wickramasinghe, Anuruddhika Padukkage, Senulya Danthanarayana, Nethpriya Madubashitha, Devmi Sathiska, and many more.
Cinematography, makeup and art direction of the movie is done by Suresh Dhammika, Mananuwan Rupasinghe, and Dhammika Hewaduwatte, respectively, while Dilan Gunawardena, Nishan Senarathne, and Nawarathna Gamage contribute in sound editing, linear production and music direction. Popular and veteran lyricist Bandula Nanayakkarawasam, along with Harshana Wickramasinghe, has penned all the songs in the movie, and Lakshman Wijesekara and Parami Aloka provide vocals for the songs.
Hora Uncle is written for the silver screen by veteran novelist Nihal Pieris while Saman Dharmawansa and Dr. Suminda Lowe contribute as producers of the movie. On behalf of Noon Club Milan, Upali Chandrakumara and Ranga Alahakoon have coordinated the screening of the movie in Italy. After Italy, the producers are planning to screen the movie in England, France, and Australia and in a few other countries as well.
