EP Governor seeks NZ HC’s assistance for investment

Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath yesterday (16) made a request to New Zealand High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Michael Appleton, to extend their support for investment plans to be inaugurated in the province.

Yahampath made this request to Appleton after presenting him with the report on new investment opportunities to be generated in the Eastern Province, for the first time, during a special meeting held at the Governor’s office in Trincomalee yesterday (16) morning.

The New Zealand High Commissioner also pledged to provide support to the ‘Sustainable Dairy Farm Project’ which has been implemented on Yahampath’s instructions.

Appleton also inquired from Yahampath the causes for the failure of the organic farming project introduced by the Government and the Governor explained that as the said programme was politicised it ended in failure.

Chief Secretary of Eastern Province Thushitha P. Wanigasinghe and Secretary to the Governor L. P. Madanayake were also present.
